The world is in “chaos,” but Xi and Putin’s bond will last “for generations.”

“Russian-Chinese cooperation in world affairs is one of the main stabilising factors on the world stage,” says Putin.

Chinese President Xi Jinping reminded Russian President Vladimir Putin that although instability was engulfing the world, Beijing’s strategic alliance with Moscow was a source of stability among the biggest shifts in a century.

In May, Xi and Putin promised a “new era” of cooperation between the two most potent adversaries of the US, portraying the US as an aggressive Cold War hegemon wreaking havoc on the globe.

At the start of the BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia, on Tuesday, Xi informed Putin, “At the moment, the world is going through changes unseen in a hundred years, the international situation is intertwined with chaos.”

“But I firmly believe that the friendship between China and Russia will continue for generations, and great countries’ responsibility to their people will not change.”

“Dear friend”
China, under pressure from a determined US attempt to undermine its expanding military and economic strength, and Russia, which is fighting war against Ukrainian forces sponsored by NATO, have increasingly found similar ground geopolitically.

Russia and China have attempted to portray the West as decadent and in decline in an effort to retaliate against the perceived humiliations of the Soviet collapse in 1991 and centuries of European colonial rule of China.

President Joe Biden has stated that autocracies like China and Russia pose a threat to democracies, and the United States views China as its greatest rival and Russia as its greatest nation-state threat.

Biden has called Putin a “killer” and even a “crazy SOB,” and he has called Xi a “dictator.” Biden has been chastised by Moscow and Beijing for the remarks.

Putin referred to Xi as a “dear friend” and claimed that the alliance with China was a global stabilizing force.

“Russian-Chinese cooperation in world affairs is one of the main stabilising factors on the world stage,” Putin stated.

“We intend to further enhance coordination on all multilateral platforms in order to ensure global security and a just world order.”

According to Xi, collaboration within the BRICS constituted “the most important platform for solidarity and cooperation between emerging market countries and developing countries in the world today.”

He described it as “a mainstay force in promoting the realisation of equal and orderly global multipolarity, as well as inclusive and tolerant economic globalisation.”
