The European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights, located in Berlin, claims that there is “also evidence indicating that several of the prohibited genocidal acts have been, and continue to be, committed in Gaza.”
Israel has been charged with committing acts of genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza by a human rights organization located in Berlin.
“The European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights, or ECCHR, has been conducting independent research and analysis on the topic of genocide in recent months and comparing this to the information and evidence that is currently available relating to Israel’s actions in Gaza,” the organization said in a statement published on its website on Monday.
“This process has led us to the conclusion that there is a legally sound argument that Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinians in Gaza,” the ECCHR stated.
It stated that “a large number of reports, commentary, and judgments support a conclusion that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza.”
For instance, during the past year, numerous UN experts, Committees, and Special Rapporteurs have issued increasingly urgent warnings about the possibility of Israeli genocide. Genocide in Gaza or the threat of it has been openly discussed by heads of state, state officials, and representatives of numerous nations.
“Additionally, reports have been published by international, Palestinian, and Israeli individuals and organisations, which posit that Israel is committing a genocide in Gaza, or at least is at risk of doing so.”
Additionally, according to ECCHR, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) had “already determined that the Palestinians are a protected group under the Genocide Convention and that Palestinians in Gaza are a substantial part of that group.”
It stated that there is “also evidence indicating that several of the prohibited genocidal acts have been, and continue to be, committed in Gaza.”
Amnesty International’s harsh report, which stated that it had “found sufficient basis to conclude that Israel has committed and is continuing to commit genocide against Palestinians in the occupied Gaza Strip,” was followed by the ECCHR declaration.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a genocidal assault in Gaza, killing around 45,000 people, the majority of whom were women and children.
With politicians and organizations characterizing the bombings and the blockage of relief deliveries as a purposeful attempt to wipe off a community, the second year of genocide in Gaza has received increasing international censure.
