UNITED NATIONS: The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation( OIC) prompted the transnational community on Monday to outlaw all willful provocations and incitement to hate and violence.

In a statement read at a high- position UN meeting on fighting hate speech, the OIC also expressed grave concern on the “ detraction of Prophet Muhammad( PBUH) ” by officers of India’s ruling Bhartiya Janta Party. Pakistan’s UN Ambassador Munir Akram read the statement on OIC’s behalf. The OIC demanded that all “ willful provocations and incitement to hate and violence must be widely outlawed. ”

Ambassador Akram reminded the transnational community that the OIC “ remains concerned about willful provocations and vilification of Islamic holy personalities and religious symbols. ”

On Saturday, June 18, the OIC joined the transnational community in commemorating the first ever transnational day for fighting hate speech in performance of a General Assembly resolution passed lately.

The resolution for observing this day was presented by the Kingdom of Morocco, and the OIC described it “ as an important corner in advancing global sweats to address and fight hate speech. ”

The OIC argued that observing this day would promote inter-religious and intercultural dialogue and forbearance in fighting hate speech and would accentuate the need to fight all kinds of demarcation and internationalism.

In his communication to the high- position meeting, UN Secretary General António Guterres said that “ hate speech is in itself an attack on forbearance, addition, diversity and the veritably substance of our mortal rights morals and principles. ”

“ detest speech, ” he added, “ undermines social cohesion, erodes participated values and can lay the foundation for violence, setting back the cause of peace, stability, sustainable development and the fulfillment of mortal rights for all ”.

Ambassador Akram refocused out that “ the scale and impact of hate speech is amplified moment by new technologies of communication, so much so that hate speech has come one of the most frequent styles for spreading divisive rhetoric and testaments on a global scale. ”

He advised that “ if left unbounded, it can erode peace and development, since it creates the conditions for conflicts, religious pressures and wide scale mortal right violations, and can be a precursor for crimes of atrocity. ”

The statement noted that while hate speech had mushroomed across the globe, “ the OIC is particularly scarified at the sharp rise in Islamophobia and anti-Muslim abomination in numerous corridor of the world. ”

similar Islamophobic acts, the OIC added, “ hurt the perceptivity of over1.5 billion Muslims and constitute a gross abuse of the right of freedom of expression. They also support revolutionist narratives. ”

The OIC group condemned “ the practice of affronting Islam, Christianity, Judaism and any other religion likewise, ” adding that it “ stands against all acts of hate and violence on the base of religion or belief. ”
