WASHINGTON: The United States has stated that it wanted Pakistan to be in an “economically sustainable position” as the country continues to face a series of economic difficulties.
Ned Price, the spokesman for the US State Department, responded on Wednesday in response to a question about Pakistan’s economic difficulties, saying, We are attentive to this challenge. Pakistan has collaborated with the IMF and other international financial institutions, as far as I am aware. We want Pakistan to be in a position where it can sustain itself economically.
However, the US official stated that those discussions were “ongoing” and that “we are supportive to our Pakistani partners where we can be.” However, Pakistan and international financial institutions are ultimately having these conversations.
He stated, confirming that Pakistan and the United States were working together on this issue: These conversations with our Pakistani partners frequently involve technical issues, which the US Department of Treasury and our Pakistani partners frequently address.
He stated the following, emphasizing the US role in the talks to stabilize Pakistan’s economy: The Department of State and our counterparts at the White House and Treasury Department, among others, discuss Pakistan’s macroeconomic stability.
