Pledge Keepers host author Stewart Rhodes has been condemned of inflammatory conspiracy for a violent plot to capsize Democrat Joe Biden’s presidential palm, handing the Justice Department a major palm in its massive execution of January 6, 2021, revolution.
A Washington, D.C, jury set up Rhodes shamefaced of sedition on Tuesday after three days of reflections in the nearly two-month-long trial that showcased the far-right revolutionist group’s sweats to keep Democratic Donald Trump in the White House at all costs.
The infrequently used, Civil War- period charge calls for over 20 times behind bars.
Rhodes did not go inside the US Capitol on January 6 but was indicted of leading a plot that began shortly after the 2020 election to pay envelope and fortified rebellion to stop the transfer of presidential power.
Through recordings and translated dispatches, jurors heard how Rhodes rallied his followers to fight to keep Trump in office, advised of a possible “bloody” civil war, and expressed remorse that the Pledge Keepers did not bring rifles to the Capitol on January 6.
In an extraordinary move, Rhodes and two other defendants took the stage in their defence, opening themselves up to violent questioning from prosecutors.
Rhodes told jurors there was no plan to attack the Capitol and claimed that his followers who went inside the structure went mischief.
On trial alongside Rhodes, of Granbury, Texas, were Kelly Meggs, leader of the Florida chapter of the Pledge Keepers; Kenneth Harrelson, another Florida Oath Keeper; Thomas Caldwell, a retired Navy intelligence officer from Virginia; and Jessica Watkins, who led an Ohio host group.
