ISLAMABAD: United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will seek the world’s generous support for the country devastated by disastrous cataracts and punctuate the urgency to deal with the climate change extremity, during his two-day visit to Pakistan.
Mr. Guterres arrived in Islamabad shortly after night. The clerk general had blazoned his plan for a solidarity trip to Pakistan soon after the launch of the $160 million UN Flash Appeal for helping the people most affected by cataracts caused by what he’d called “thunderstorm on steroids”. He’ll be back in New York on Sept 11 where the 77th session of the UN General Assembly is starting on Sept 13.
Foreign Office Spokesperson Asim Iftikhar, at the daily media briefing on Thursday, said the clerk general will meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, visit the National Flood Response and Coordination Centre(NFRCC), have a common presser with the high minister, and hold addresses with the foreign minister followed by a common press stakeout at the Foreign Office, besides other engagements, all related to the cataracts response.
Mr. Guterres will also visit areas most affected by flooding, including Balochistan and Sindh, where he’ll meet first askers and interact with people displaced by cataracts.
The Pakistani government, Mr. Iftikhar said, wanted to use the clerk general’s visit to promote global mindfulness about the massive challenge of reconstruction and recuperation facing the country.

“In this environment, the clerk general will also raise mindfulness about the liaison of similar mega disasters with the shocking impact of climate change,” he further said.
Islamabad has been prompting the rich countries to help Pakistan and other poor countries suffering from climate change because of their massive hothouse gas emigrations that caused global warming. The rich countries have generally been reticent to pay for the climate loss.
Pakistani leaders would in their meetings draw the clerk general’s attention to the huge coffers demanded the reconstruction and recuperation phase. participating in an overview of the transnational relief goods entrustments reaching then, the prophet said “a large number of our musketeers and mates have stepped forward with backing to buttress the government- led relief sweats”.
