“We expect that he’ll come here, and I’ll go there, and we’re going to meet also, probably in Saudi Arabia,” Trump states.
During the first of what he suggested may be a series of talks aimed at putting an end to Russia’s war with Ukraine, US President Donald Trump has stated that he expects to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin “probably” in Saudi Arabia.
Trump went on Wednesday to call the war a “disaster” that is “really bloody horrible,” adding that he thinks “we’ll get something done” to put an end to the fight that has lasted for almost three years with his help.
“We eventually hope to meet, but I’ll be interacting with President Putin more over the phone. Actually, we anticipate that he will visit here, I will travel there, and we will meet as well, most likely in Saudi Arabia,” he told reporters in the Oval Office.
“We’ll meet in Saudi Arabia the first time to see if we can accomplish anything. However, we want that war to end.
NATO membership for Ukraine is ‘not practical’.
Another major point of contention in the conflict is that Trump stated that it would not be “practical” to admit Ukraine as a member of NATO.
He added that it was doubtful Ukraine would regain all of its territory.
According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, he spoke with Trump on peace talks and expressed gratitude for “his genuine interest in our shared opportunities and how we can bring about real peace together.”
“We believe that America’s strength, together with Ukraine and all our partners, is enough to push Russia to peace,” Zelenskyy stated on X.
