The general election in Sri Lanka is expected to be won by the president’s alliance.

The National People’s Power (NPP) wins 62.82% of the vote and 85 seats.

According to local media on Friday, the National People’s Power (NPP) coalition, led by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, was expected to win a landslide victory in the general election.

With 6.6 million votes cast, the NPP received 62.82% of the vote and gained 85 seats in parliament.

According to Newswire, the opposition Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), led by Sajith Premadasa, came in second with 18.09% of the vote, or 1.9 million votes and 23 seats.

With 466,818 votes, the New Democratic Front (NDF), which is affiliated with former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, garnered 4.83% of the vote and won two seats.

With 343,690 votes, or 3.25% of the vote, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) came in second and won two seats.

“Sri Lanka is at a turning point. After the vote, Dissanayake declared, “We believe the people will give us that mandate, and we aim to form a strong parliament.”
