The decision by Paraguay to move its embassy to Jerusalem is denounced by Palestine.

According to the Palestinian Foreign Ministry, Paraguay’s decision is against international law, UN resolutions, and the ruling of the International Court of Justice.

According to the Palestinian Foreign Ministry, Paraguay’s plan to move its embassy to Jerusalem has been denounced by Palestine.

“Paraguay’s decision to move its embassy to Jerusalem is a violation of international law, UN resolutions, and the opinion of the International Court of Justice,” it stated on X on Thursday.

Santiago Pena’s choice to stand on the wrong side of history and praise the Israeli occupation for its continued atrocities against the Palestinian people was denounced by the ministry.

Pena and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attended the ceremony Thursday to reopen Paraguay’s embassy in Jerusalem.

Netanyahu praised Pena’s arrival in Israel on the day of the embassy’s “courageous” move to relocate from Tel Aviv.

The president of Paraguay met with his Israeli counterpart, Isaac Herzog, during a welcoming session of the Israeli Knesset (parliament).

Inverted motion
Initially, in 2018, under then-President Horacio Cartes’ pro-Israel administration, Paraguay moved its embassy to Jerusalem.

Months later, when a new government took office, it changed its mind.

Pena, a protégé of Cartes who has emulated his mentor, has decided to reopen the Jerusalem embassy, making Paraguay the first nation to do so since Israel began its ruthless war on Gaza in October of last year.
