According to Telegram, it is ludicrous to hold an owner accountable for improper usage of the network.

On Sunday, the messaging service Telegram stated that Pavel Durov, the creator, had nothing to conceal and that it was ludicrous to hold an owner accountable for improper use of the network.

Telegram claimed in a statement regarding Durov’s detention in France on Saturday that it “abides by EU laws, including the Digital Services Act—its moderation is within industry standards and constantly improving.”

“Telegram’s CEO Pavel Durov has nothing to hide and travels frequently in Europe,” claimed the statement. “It is absurd to claim that a platform or its owner are responsible for abuse of that platform.”

“We’re hoping that this will be resolved quickly. Telegram is with every person.

French authorities arrested Telegram founder Pavel Durov on Saturday evening at Le Bourget Airport near Paris under a search and arrest warrant issued by French investigators for "various violations attributed to the encrypted messaging app."
