The Tarbela Dam is a dam filled with earth located in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan, next to the Indus River. It is primarily situated in Tehsil Ghazi and Topi, Haripur, and Swabi District.
It is roughly 125 km (80 km) east of Peshawar, 105 km (65 mi) northwest of Islamabad, and 20 km (10 mi) from the city of Swabi, KPK. It is the world’s biggest earth-filled dam.With Tarbela Lake as its reservoir, the dam rises 143 meters (470 feet) above the riverbank and covers an area of around 250 square kilometers (97 sq mi).
