Swiss intelligence reveals the covert activities of the PKK

The PKK is becoming a more serious threat to Switzerland’s stability and the security of Turkish populations, hence the country’s security forces are on high alert.

According to a new assessment released by the country’s intelligence service, the PKK terrorist organization is covertly organizing terrorist training camps, disseminating propaganda, and raising money in Switzerland and other nations.

In its 2024 situation report, “Switzerland’s Security,” the Federal Intelligence Service (FIS) of Switzerland offered important new information about the PKK’s operations.

Over 40,000 people, including women, children, newborns, and the elderly, have died as a result of the PKK’s 40-year terror campaign against Turkey. The PKK is classified as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US, and the EU.

According to the article, the organization secretly carries out a number of activities in Switzerland.

According to the FIS, the PKK is well-known for its recruitment tactics that target young Kurdish refugees in Switzerland in particular, whom it aims to brainwash and train for deployment against the Turkish military.

According to the research, the PKK sometimes works with violent left-wing extremist groups, and cultural associations connected to the party take advantage of these people for party purposes.

The FIS cautioned that the organization may temporarily expand its operations in Switzerland and throughout Europe if circumstances in northern Syria or Iraq worsen.

It further stated that the PKK may target Turkish establishments such as mosques and community centers.

Swiss security is getting worse.
The research also emphasized that Switzerland’s security situation has been becoming worse every year and that the country is currently going through a risky and unstable time as a result of altering global power dynamics, with little clarity as to how long it will last.

According to the research, “Switzerland is significantly less secure than it was just a few years ago,” pointing to the extreme polarization brought on by competing armed conflicts and crises in Europe.

Noting that the confrontation between Russia and Ukraine has devolved into a “war of attrition with no end in sight,” it stated that Moscow is adamant about extending the conflict, making it more difficult for the US and Europe to provide Ukraine with critical supplies.

The research noted that the events in Gaza, which has been under Israeli attack since the attacks by the Palestinian organization Hamas on October 7, 2023, had sent major “shockwaves” over the Middle East.

It stated that since October, Israel has stepped up its attacks on Lebanon’s Hezbollah organization, posing a threat to Iran and its regional strategy.

It also highlighted the high threat posed by Chinese intelligence services, while highlighting the fact that Russian intelligence services provide the biggest espionage threat to Switzerland.

According to the report’s findings, violent far-right and far-left organizations’ operations in Switzerland have not decreased, and the country’s terror threat has only increased in 2024.
