Russian strikes kill people in Kryvyi Rih and Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine

As winter’s chill intensifies the nearly three-year conflict, Russian strikes continue to wreak havoc on Ukraine, leaving civilians enduring freezing temperatures and villages in darkness due to fires and debris.

According to the local governor, at least nine persons have been killed in a Russian strike on the southern Zaporizhzhia area of Ukraine.

Ivan Fedorov, the governor of Zaporizhzhia, posted pictures of a burning fire with debris scattered over the roadway on Friday, claiming that a Russian attack had set a vehicle garage and service station on fire.

“Nine dead and six wounded,” he wrote on Telegram, revising a previous death toll of seven.

“Among the wounded are two children, aged four and 11,” he stated.

The governor posted video from the scene, which showed a burned-out car and thick flames rising from a wrecked building.

The governor noted that following the incident, some towns had issues with their power supplies.

He had referred to Russia as a “terrorist state” in an earlier tweet.

Attacks and blackouts during the really cold winter
Following the strike, he said, some neighboring municipalities experienced issues with their electrical supplies.

The assault follows weeks of intensification in the conflict, which has lasted almost three years, as both sides seek to gain the upper hand before Donald Trump, the US president-elect, takes office in January.

The state emergency services agency reported that two people were murdered and sixteen others, including a toddler, were injured in an earlier attack on the central city of Kryvyi Rih.

According to the statement on Telegram, “a three-story building was destroyed, residential buildings, and cars were damaged” during the incident.
