Rupee to grow stronger in coming days: Dar

LAHORE Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has prognosticated that the rupee is going to further strengthen in the coming days.

“Appreciation of the US bone against Pak rupee is the mama of all immoralities. Its appreciation against the rupee is artificial and I’m telling you that the factual value of the rupee has been manipulated,” the minister said during a presser then on Saturday.

He said since he’d taken over the charge of the finance ministry the rupee had appreciated and would further go overhead against the US bone. “I advise those involved in the artificial appreciation of bone against the rupee, as strict action will be taken against them,” he added.

Currency dealers said the bone lost another Rs2.49 in the inter-bank request on Thursday last to close at Rs229.63.

The currency request attributes the rupee’s recovery to Mr. Dar’s return as the new finance minister. He’s believed to have a different view about the exchange rate and may conclude for forced devaluation of the bone
as he did in history.
