If a nuclear agreement with Iran is not reached, the Saudi foreign minister warned on Sunday, the region will enter a “very dangerous” phase.
According to the Saudi Gazette newspaper, Faisal bin Farhan said at an event in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, “If Iran gets an operational nuclear weapon, all bets are off.”
He asserted that if Iran were to acquire nuclear weapons, its neighbors would take measures to improve their security.
The top Saudi diplomat stated, “We are in a very dangerous space in the region, and you can expect that regional states will definitely look towards how they can ensure their own security.”

‘Not positive’
Farhan argued that the current signs are not encouraging and that Iran’s neighbors need more concrete assurances to believe it does not intend to acquire nuclear weapons.
Farhan stated, “We support a nuclear agreement with Tehran, but it does not guarantee that Tehran will not seek to produce nuclear weapons.”
Western pressure has been growing due to Tehran’s repression of recent protests and its expanding ties with Russia, despite the fact that attempts to revive the Iran nuclear deal have not yet been successful.
