Suffs, a film that Clinton and Malala Yousafzai co-produced, provokes a fierce backlash as the young Nobel laureate is questioned for her silence over the slaughter in Palestine, particularly while working with Clinton, who supports the Israeli onslaught of Gaza.
Following the premiere of a Broadway musical that she co-produced with former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who has openly supported Israel’s attack on the besieged Palestinians of Gaza, which some analysts think has already reached genocidal proportions, Nobel winner Malala Yousafzai is experiencing blowback.
Playing in New York since last week, the musical “Suffs” portrays the American women’s suffrage movement and their fight for the right to vote in the 20th century.
Nevertheless, Yousafzai, who received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014, has come under fire from a number of sources for her alliance with Clinton, a vocal advocate of Israel’s incursion into Gaza.
After the war in Gaza started last October, Pakistan has witnessed a number of intensely emotional pro-Palestine demonstrations.
Popular Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar posted on social networking site X, saying, “Her theater collaboration with Hillary Clinton — who stands for America’s unequivocal support for genocide of Palestinians — is a huge blow to her credibility as a human rights activist.”
“I consider it utterly tragic.”
“Heartbreaking and saddening”
Clinton has called for safety for Palestinian people while simultaneously endorsing a military assault in Gaza and rejecting calls for a truce.
Yousafzai has demanded a truce in Gaza and openly denounced the deaths of civilians.
However, Yousafzai’s choice to work with Clinton was described as “maddening and heartbreaking at the same time” by author and professor Nida Kirmani on X. What a complete letdown.”
Over 34,000 people have died in Gaza as a result of Israel’s ceaseless bombing, with 70% of the casualties being women, children, and infants. Over 77,000 more have been injured. It is believed that 8,100 Palestinians are buried beneath the wreckage of destroyed homes and other structures.
Gaza’s population, especially those in the north, is starving as a result of Israel’s harsh embargo. According to the UN, the Israeli war has caused 60% of the 2.4 million people living in Gaza to be damaged or destroyed, and 85% of them are now internally displaced due to severe shortages of food, clean water, and medication.
The International Court of Justice has charged Israel with genocide and directed Tel Aviv to take more action to avert the famine situation in Gaza. There are good reasons to think Israel is killing Palestinians in Gaza, according to Francesca Albanese, the UN special rapporteur on the state of human rights in the Palestinian territories.

advancing the feminist agenda in the West
Malala posted on X on Wednesday, expressing her solidarity with the people of Gaza in response to accusations of hypocrisy and silence regarding the condition of Palestinian women in Gaza during the ongoing Israeli bombardment. Malala is also producing and promoting a musical with Clinton about the US suffragette movement of the early 20th century.
During the administration of former President Barack Obama, Clinton was the head of American diplomacy and oversaw a campaign of drone strikes against Taliban fighters in the borders of Pakistan and Afghanistan.
After being shot in the head by the Pakistani Taliban while advocating for girls’ education as a teenager in 2012, Yousafzai was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
However, the drone war caused numerous civilian casualties and injuries in Yousafzai’s hometown, leading to further online condemnation of the 17-year-old Nobel laureate.
In Pakistan and other nations, Yousafzai is frequently regarded with distrust because many believe she is promoting a liberal and feminist political agenda from the West.
