Flash flooding has also flooded parts of Brisbane, the state capital.

Parts of northeastern Queensland, Australia, have experienced riverine and flash floods due to heavy rainfall, and further storms are expected.

The Australia Broadcasting Corporation reports that further storms are expected to hit south-east Queensland over the course of the following day, with flash floods submerging parts of the state capital Brisbane.

Massive rainfall was recorded overnight, according to the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM), with the largest (77 mm) falling inland from the Gold Coast in less than four hours.

On Sunday, 51-millimetre rain was reported in Brisbane City over 30 minutes.

In addition to a number of moderate and minor warnings for southern and south-east Queensland, weather officials issued a major flood warning for the Logan and Albert Rivers.

Wyaralong Dam is currently overflowing because it is overflowing.

Due to many rock slides, police have issued “severe” thunderstorm warnings and recommended drivers to stay away from Lamington National Park.
