Pakistan will host a virtual meeting of the foreign ministers of neighboring countries of Afghanistan on Wednesday (today) to debate developments within the war-ravaged country.
The meeting would be attended by foreign ministers of China, Iran, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
The meeting is being held a day after the Taliban’s declaration of an interim government for Afghanistan.
The ministry during a statement said that the foreign ministers’ meeting will survey the evolving situation in Afghanistan to address common challenges and acknowledge emerging opportunities to guarantee regional stability and prosperity.

“It will provide an opportunity to neighbors of Afghanistan to work together for the shared objective of a peaceful and stable Afghanistan, which is essential to forge strong economic linkages and realize connectivity agenda,” it further said.
The meeting follows an identical session of the Special Representatives/Envoys of the regional states for Afghanistan coordinated on Sept 5.
“The neighbors of Afghanistan have a fundamental stake in the soundness of the country. A tranquil, stable, united, sovereign and prosperous Afghanistan will contribute towards transit travel, individuals to individuals trades, and security in the area,” the FO said.
