ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have inked two agreements related to workers’ reclamation and chops verification of Pakistani pool being employed in the area, said a statement issued by the Foreign Office on Sunday.
It said the signing form of the agreements took place during the visit of the Minister for Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mahmood to Saudi Arabia.
According to the FO, the agreement on workers’ reclamation will contribute to streamlining the process of import of pool from Pakistan in different professions in the area while securing their due rights and furnishing comprehensive legal protection to Pakistani citizens employed in Saudi Arabia. The agreement will also help in resolving contractual controversies and taking legal expedient against reclamation services, companies or agencies for any violation.
The agreement on chops verification will enhance the import of professed and pukka Pakistani pools to the area.
The FO statement said conducting ultramodern chops and icing instruments of the Pakistani pool to ameliorate their employability abroad were crucial areas among Prime Minister Imran Khan’s precedence sectors. “ Instrument for our professed force will produce openings for specialized pool in Pakistan to get internationally recognised training and instruments,” it added.
The education ministry said in a press release that the agreements were inked by Shafqat Mahmood and Dr Ahmad Jabbar Al Yamni from Saudi Arabia at a form at the Ministry of Human Coffers and Social Development of the area. It was witnessed by elderly officers from both countries.
“ This important cooperation between both countries has far-reaching impact for enhancing the employment openings for professed Pakistani pool by common instrument and testing by Takamol Saudi Arabia and National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) Pakistan,” said the statement.
“ This step ( agreements) will also guard the being Pakistani workforce in Saudi Arabia. It’s anticipated that millions of Pakistani professed workers will get economic employment openings with advanced earning as a result of the sweats of the government of Pakistan,” it added.
It said that under this cooperation, NAVTTC and Takamol, an attachment of the government of Saudi Arabia, were establishing the testing governance under the Chops Verification Programme (SVP) by swapping the NOS (National Occupational Norms) and easing skill verification of campaigners through faculty- grounded assessment ( proposition & practical) at test centres in Pakistan for campaigners desirous of working in Saudi Arabia.
This will enable the Pakistani skill pool to have authentic and internationally recognised common instruments by both Takamol and NAVTTC through the Recognition of Previous Literacy (RPL) assessment.

According to the press release, the Saudi ministry has introduced the SVP from July 2021 to regulate its labour request. After the perpetration of the SVP, skill verification has come necessary for the Pakistani workers who intend to get employment in Saudi Arabia.
It’s important to note that the largest number of Pakistani aboriginal pool is grounded in Saudi Arabia, contributing mainly to the country’s frugality through foreign remittances. Utmost of the present Pakistani pool in the area falls in the order of unskilled or semiskilled labour, which means reduced remunerations and it also impacts remittances negatively, the press release said.
Also, it added, in the changing script of labour laws and dynamics of the labour request overseas, a large number of Pakistani pool bear chops instrument as presently they face non-recognition of their qualifications, chops and instrument. This cooperation will help a large number of these workers and also lead to public productivity and development.
Saudi Arabia is home to over two million Pakistani settlers and is the single largest remittance source to the South Asian nation. According to Arab News, Pakistani deportees in the area transferred home$5.7 billion in July-March 2021.
Minister visits broadcasting academy
Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood also visited Saudi Broadcasting School “ IEN” in Riyadh. Saudi Education Minister Hamad Bin Mohammed Al Al-Sheikh and Vice Minister for Education Dr Saad Bin Saud Al Fahid entered Mr Mahmood at the academy and briefed him on the state-of-the-art live installation established in 15 days to manage literacy losses during the Covid-19 epidemic.
Mr Mahmood appreciated the IEN live broadcasting academy systems, quality of content and its delivery and reach out medium.
“ It was decided that both IEN Saudi Arabia and TeleSchool Pakistan will engage and partake gests, processes and technologies to boost distance literacy education in order to give quality education in pastoral areas,” the press release said.
