A fight that started at a pub in the Bajice area led to the shooting.
According to the interior minister of Montenegro, a shooting in the western city of Ceitinje claimed the lives of at least ten persons, including two children.
At a news conference on Wednesday, Minister Danilo Saranovic stated that the fugitive gunman had also gravely injured four persons.
He continued, “At this moment, we are focused on arresting him”.
Without providing further details, he described the episode as a “consequence of disturbed interpersonal relations”.
Seven people were killed in the shooting that followed a bar fight, according to the first local media death toll.
That catastrophe “shocked and stunned” President Jakov Milatovic.
“Instead of holiday joy… we have been gripped by sadness over the loss of innocent lives”, Milatovic posted on X, a social networking platform.
Aco Martinovic, 45, was the attacker’s name given by the police.
According to the RTCG report, which featured Martinovic’s picture on its website, he had previously been arrested for unlawfully possessing firearms and was known for his unpredictable behavior.
According to the report, he returned to the bar after going home to retrieve his gun, opened fire, and killed and injured multiple people. According to the allegation, he then proceeded to another location where he murdered a woman and the bar owner’s children.

Many of the 620,000 residents of Montenegro have historically owned firearms, and the country is well-known for its gun culture.
The shooting spree in Cetinje, the medieval capital of Montenegro, on Wednesday was the second in the last three years.
In August 2022, as assailant in Cetinje also killed ten people, including two children, before being shot and killed by a bystander.
