From 2015 to 2021, global water increased by 3 percent. Stress levels in Northern African and Western Asia rose 12 percent, exacerbating already critical levels. Agriculture accounts for 72 percent of fresh water withdrawals globally, followed by industry (15 percent) and services (13 percent).
