Following their retreat from the area earlier this month, paramedics, rescue teams, and human rights organizations accuse invading Israeli troops of organ harvesting and burying several Palestinians alive in and around Nasser Hospital.
Rescue teams and paramedics working on the extraction of civilian bodies from the mass graves found at the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis have stated that the Israeli military stole organs from the victims and that some Gaza victims were buried alive in the newly found graves.
Three mass graves yielded at least 392 dead, including 165 unidentified victims, after the Israeli troops withdrew from Khan Younis.
Videos and pictures of the victims revealed horrifying proof of torture, including decapitation and shackling with plastic restraints.
Concerns about organ harvesting were stoked by the disturbing evidence of surgical incisions on certain bodies that did not correspond with local customs, as reported by the official Palestinian news agency WAFA.
Following reports from medical specialists in Gaza who inspected certain bodies after they were released by Israel, Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor stated on Sunday that it has “concerns” regarding potential organ theft from Palestinian corpses.
According to the NGO, it has proof that the Israeli force has taken several dozen corpses from the Al Shifa and Indonesian hospitals in northern Gaza, as well as from other hospitals in the south.
The disfigured body of a little child wearing a surgical gown—which suggests she may have been buried alive—and the corpse of another victim wearing a similar outfit were among the graphic finds made near Nasser Hospital.
Journalist Akram al Satarri, who works out of Gaza, said to the American news organization Democracy Now, “Some of the people were tied.” A few of the individuals were holding medical devices, such as cannulas. They were clearly buried alive when they were discovered after they were excavated from the dirt.”
Field operations
The bullet wounds, which suggested possible field killings, raised more doubts.
The seriousness of the situation is highlighted by the usage of unconventional burial shrouds, buried dead piled three meters deep, and the continuous hostility towards Palestinians.
The Palestinian Civil Defense in Gaza said, “We found three mass graves, the first in front of the morgue, the second behind the morgue, and the third north of the dialysis building,” during a news conference on Thursday.
Although the Israeli army would not explicitly answer claims that Israeli troops were responsible for the deaths, it did concede that “corpses buried by Palestinians” had been searched by soldiers looking for captives.
A few parents in Gaza informed the AFP that some of the dead found had been interred by family members.
Independent inquiry of the mass graves has been demanded by France, the European Union, and the United Nations. A spokesman for the US State Department stated on Thursday that Israel needs to look into its own practices regarding the mass graves.
Over 34,305 Palestinians have been killed by Israel, with 70% of the victims being women, children, and newborns. At least 77,000 more have been injured.
The International Court of Justice has accused Israel of committing genocide.
There were good reasons, according to experts like Francesca Albanese, the UN special rapporteur on the human rights situation in the Palestinian territories, to think that Israel was killing Palestinians in Gaza.
