Muzafarabad, (Parliament Times) : The employees of the Inland Revenue Department of Azad Jammu and Kashmir have announced to widen the scope of their protest in favor of their legitimate demands. After a month of continuous struggle from the platform of the Welfare Association (AJ&K) and government’s broken promises, the employees have issued a schedule for a phased strike. The strike will continue for three hours every day until August 22, while protest banners are also being displayed outside the offices. This second day of the protest continued with enthusiasm.
Addressing the protesters, Central President Chaudhry Muhammad Asif said that the government’s continued lack of interest, false promises and avoidance of practical steps have greatly disappointed the employees. He said that there will be a symbolic complete strike across Azad Kashmir on August 24 and 25. If the government does not accept the demands by September 1, 2025, there will be a complete lockdown in the offices and the government system will be paralyzed. Central Vice President Raja Imtiaz Khan, while addressing the protesting employees, said, “Now the protest will not be limited to offices only. If the situation remains like this, we will take to the streets and fight for our rights. The government should not test the patience of the employees.” Employees from all districts of Azad Kashmir participated in the protest enthusiastically and vowed not to back down until the demands are accepted.
