UNITED NATIONS: “The butcher of Gujarat lives, and he is the prime minister of India,” Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari told a UN briefing room on Thursday, minutes after his Indian counterpart accused Pakistan of perpetuating terrorism and sheltering Osama bin Laden.
In response to Indian Minister of Foreign Affairs S. Jaishankar’s remarks, the Pakistani foreign minister stated, “I would like to remind Mr. Jaishankar that Osama bin Laden is dead, but the butcher of Gujarat lives, and he is the prime minister (of India).”
Narendra Modi was prohibited from entering the United States. The RSS’s prime minister and foreign minister are modeled after Hitler’s SS, he continued.
Mr. Jaishankar addressed the media at a UN stakeout site minutes before Mr. Bhutto-Zardari’s briefing. He repeated the allegations he made on Wednesday inside the UN Security Council, where he accused Pakistan of “hosting Osama bin Laden.”
Affirms not “pursuing or receiving” discounted Russian energy. He also responded to Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar’s remarks on Wednesday, in which she referred to India as “the biggest perpetrator of terrorism,” in Islamabad.
According to Mr. Jaishankar, Ms. Khar’s remarks brought back memories of a visit to Islamabad by then-US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton more than a decade ago, during which she advised Pakistan that “if you have snakes in your backyard, you cannot expect them to bite only your neighbours.”
He asserted that Pakistan was “not great at listening to good advice… and now look at what’s happening there.” It is the epicenter of terrorism today and is a factor in numerous regional and international activities.
The Indian minister urged Pakistan not to blame others and asked: How long does Pakistan intend to engage in [terrorism] and cover it up by shifting the discussion to another venue? Please get your act together. Please make an effort to be a good neighbor.
A journalist asked Mr. Bhutto-Zardari why the Indian and Pakistani foreign ministers were fighting over words at the briefing.
This is not a verbal conflict. The minister said, “I have not noticed,” adding that he was a terrorist because his mother and thousands of other Pakistanis had been killed by terrorists.
Mr. Bhutto-Zardari stated, “We have lost far more lives to terrorism than India did,” noting that “India has been playing in the space” that has made it “very easy” to associate Muslims with terrorism. India has very skillfully blurred this line, making terrorists into victims like us all.
The Pakistani unfamiliar clergyman noticed that India has ceaselessly sustained this way of thinking, for Pakistani as well as Muslims in India as well.
Russian energy
According to a report published by Dawn.com, Mr. Bhutto-Zardari stated that Pakistan “is not pursuing or receiving” any discounted energy from Russia in an interview with PBS Newshour.
He stated, “As far as Russia is concerned, we are neither pursuing nor receiving any discounted energy.” On the other hand, “we are facing an extremely difficult economic situation, inflation, and pump prices.” However, he acknowledged that Pakistan was experiencing energy insecurity. He stated, “Any energy from Russia will take a long time for us to develop,” and that “we are exploring various avenues to expand our areas where we can get our energy.”
Musadik Malik, the State Minister for Petroleum, made the announcement last week that Russia had decided to offer Pakistan discounted prices on crude oil, gasoline, and diesel. Mr. Malik stated that the specific terms and conditions of the discounted oil commodities would be settled during the Russian energy minister’s upcoming visit to Islamabad by mid-January. However, rates would be comparable to or even cheaper than the discount given to other nations.
Malik had added that prior to that visit, the two sides would refine their proposals to the point where an executive summary or agreement could be signed and supplies could begin flowing.
