India receives Russian S-400 training equipment: report

NEW DELHI: Amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, India has entered defense outfit for the training squadron of the Russia- made S-400 Triumf advanced face-to- air bullet defense system, original media reported on Friday.

In December, India blazoned that Russia had begun deliveries of the S-400 long- range defense systems to India.

Original news agency Asian News International (ANI) reported that the country entered simulators and other outfit from Moscow.

The report said that despite the war in Ukraine,” defense inventories from Moscow are continuing.”The rearmost inventories from Russia also included” caught fighter aircraft machines and reserves for an aircraft line.”

“It doesn’t include dumdums or launchers,”the agency quoted defense sources as saying, adding that India also entered the final corridor of the S-400 system from Russia whose first squadron was” functional to take care of pitfalls”from bordering countries.

India, a long- time supporter of Russia, has in recent times been growing near to Washington. Since Russia launched a war on Ukraine in February, India has called for a peaceful result but abstain from openly censuring Moscow.

Specter of US warrants

In 2018, India and Russia inked a$5.5 billion contract for the S-400 system, putting India at threat of US warrants.

The US has long tried to discourage countries from buying military outfit from Russia, hanging them with corrective measures under the Fighting America’s Adversaries Through Warrants Act (CAATSA).

Despite Washington’s warnings, New Delhi moved forward with the purchase, arguing that it has strategic connections with both Russia and the US.

Turkiye, another country that has gone forward with its own S-400 purchase, has dismissed the US warrants trouble and said the dumdums are a matter of public security.

US President Joe Biden’s Fellow for Warrants Policy JamesO’Brien told lawgivers in the House of Representatives last week that the US doesn’t want India to buy the S-400 system from Russia, according to media reports.

He also said Washington has to consider important geostrategic circumstances.
