On Wednesday, the assault happened close to a security checkpoint on the well-traveled Mogadishu-Afgoye route.

According to Mogadishu security officer Nour Abdirahman, who spoke with Anadolu, the attack happened during morning rush hour and the police think it was a suicide bombing.
