Over 27 million Americans cast ballots in person, and 25.6 million more did so by mail.
According to research, almost 53 million Americans have already cast their early ballots for the general election scheduled for next week.
On Tuesday, the Election Lab at the University of Florida revealed that 53,460,802 voters used mail-in ballots and in-person voting to cast their early ballots.
More than 27 million people have cast ballots in person, and 25.6 million have done so via mail.
10,217,524 Democrats and 9,479,998 Republicans have cast early ballots, a difference of just over 700,000.
Approximately 6.1 million people who are not members of either major party have also done so.
Showdown in the swing states
Particularly in swing states like Arizona, Nevada, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Georgia, North Carolina, and Wisconsin, polls indicate that Trump and Harris are in a very close fight.
Since the US does not elect its own presidents, battleground states are crucial. Rather, the process is carried out through the Electoral College, where 538 representatives vote based on the results of their states.
To win, either candidate must receive 270 Electoral College votes. States are given electors according to their population, and the majority of them award all of their electors to the candidate who wins the state’s general vote.
Maine and Nebraska, on the other hand, distribute their votes proportionately according to their results rather than using the winner-take-all approach.
