The pilgrims were in route when the bus capsized at a checkpoint; they were primarily from Ghotki and Larkana in Sindh.

When a bus flipped at an Iranian checkpoint, at least 35 pilgrims from Pakistan were killed, and another 15 were injured.

According to early investigations conducted by the Iranian traffic police, the accident occurred late on Tuesday in the province of Yazd in central Iran and was caused by a technical malfunction in the bus braking system.

The official further stated that Pakistan’s consulate services in Iran had been invited to Yazd province in order to investigate the mishap.

Currently, the Arbaeen pilgrimage is being performed by millions of Shia Muslims in the Karbala Governorate of Iraq.

Hussein bin Ali, a prominent figure in Shia Islam and the grandson of Prophet Muhammad, was killed. This incident marks the 40th anniversary of the mourning period.
