French demonstrators demonstrate against racism and Islamophobia

Protesters condemn French police brutality and show support for Gaza in the midst of its humanitarian crisis.

Approximately two thousand people came together in Paris to demonstrate their support for the Palestinians in Gaza who are facing a humanitarian crisis and to voice their opposition to racism, Islamophobia, and police brutality in France.

On Sunday, they screamed slogans while sporting headscarves, or keffiyehs, and carrying Palestinian flags.

Additionally, they carried banners that read, among other things, “Our children are in danger,” “Stop the genocide in Gaza,” “Stop racism, stop Islamophobia,” and “Anti-colonialist anti-Zionist resistance.”

At the demonstration were prominent members of the hard-left La France Insoumise (France Unbowed) party, Black immigrants, and leaders of the Yellow Vest movement in France.

African-American protestors used local music and dance to demonstrate their defiance.

In honor of the North African-American adolescent who was shot and killed by police after a traffic check last year, they also yelled slogans.
