Six prisoners, including American citizens, were discovered dead in a Gaza tunnel, prompting US legislators to demand an end to hostilities between Israel and Hamas.
In response to the death of six hostages in a tunnel beneath Gaza on Sunday, a number of US Democratic politicians reaffirmed their support for an Israeli-Hamas ceasefire.

The bodies of Israeli-American citizen Hersh Goldberg-Polin, Carmel Gat, Eden Yerushalmi, Alexander Lobanov, Almog Sarusi, and Ori Danino have reportedly been repatriated to Israel, according to the Israeli military.
The news of Goldberg-Polin’s passing “heartbroke and devastated,” Democratic US Senator Dick Durbin wrote in a post on X.
“A ceasefire must be reached immediately that allows all remaining captives to be released, humanitarian aid to flow into Gaza, and an elusive and neglected long-term vision for peace and stability to become a reality,” said Durbin, a Democrat who is the second-ranking
Time is running out, according to Jonathan Dekel-Chen, whose son Sagui is another American citizen held captive by Hamas, because Benjamin Netanyahu’s Israeli government has failed to negotiate the release of the prisoners.
He stated the “entire senior military establishment and intelligence community has been stating publicly and openly for weeks and months that the moment has come to terminate the battle in Gaza, get our captives home, as many alive as possible,” Dekel-Chen told the CBS “Face the Nation” program.”
According to a White House official, US President Joe Biden sent his sympathies to Goldberg-Polin’s parents, Jon Polin and Rachel Goldberg, who attended the Democratic National Convention last month.
