Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan emphasizes the significance of removing sanctions on Syria during a phone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron.

According to Türkiye’s Communications Directorate, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan informed French counterpart Emmanuel Macron over the phone that the EU’s decision to lift sanctions on Syria last month was a positive move.

According to a statement released by the directorate on Friday, Erdogan also emphasized the significance of removing sanctions on Damascus in the new post-Assad era and declared that Turkey will continue to support Syria without halt. The two leaders also spoke about bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues.

Erdogan emphasized during the call that increasing communication between the two nations will contribute to the strengthening of bilateral ties, noting that France and Turkey have the capacity to work together in a variety of areas, most notably the defense sector.

He went on to say that efforts must be made to find a long-term solution in the area and that the present ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinian organization Hamas should be maintained.
