Early results show that the ruling party in Azerbaijan wins the legislative election.

Initial results from the recent parliamentary elections show that the ruling New Azerbaijan Party of Azerbaijan won 68 seats and a majority, with 37.27 percent of voters casting ballots.

Initial results from Sunday’s parliamentary elections show that the ruling New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) won the most seats.

At a news conference, Mezahir Panahov, the chairman of the Central Election Commission, revealed the identities of the candidates who secured the most votes.

As per the preliminary findings, President Ilham Aliyev’s YAP secured 68 members in the National Assembly.

The Civic Solidarity Party won three seats, the Justice, Law and Democracy Party won two, and the Great Azerbaijan Party, Democratic Reforms Party, Great Creation Party, Republican Alternative Party, Motherland Party, Azerbaijan National Independence Party, National Front Party, and Azerbaijan Democratic Enlightenment Party each won one seat. In all, 44 independent candidates were elected to the legislature.

In a nation with over 6,421,000 registered voters, 37.27 percent of voters cast ballots.

For the seventh time, voters in Azerbaijan chose their National Assembly representatives.

There were about 990 contenders vying for 125 spots.
