Arab- Israeli wars are a series of wars fought between Israel and various Arab states most notably during 1948, 1956, 1967, 1973, 1982 and 2006.
The UN Mandate on Palestine broke clashes between the Arabs and the Jews in Palestine. As soon as the British forces withdrew from Egypt, Israel declared independence. War broke out between Jews and several Arab forces from Egypt, Iraq, Syria, Jordan and Lebanon. In July 1949, an armistice agreement between Israel and each of the Arab state which fixed a temporary Frontier between Israel and its neighbors. In Israel the war is known as the independence war whereas the Arabs call it Nakhbah (Catastrophe) because a large number of people were displaced.
