According to rescue officials, a passenger bus accident in south Ecuador claimed the lives of at least 16 persons and injured eight more.
The ECU911 service posted on WhatsApp that “so far the toll is 16 dead and eight injured” from the collision that involved another car and happened in Ecuador’s Loja region, which borders Peru.
“Firefighters, the National Police and the Ministry of Public Health units are working on the incident, which involved an interprovincial transport bus and a light car-type vehicle,” the news organization stated.
