In response to North Korea’s assistance to Russia, Ukraine has urged allies to take strong action, including enacting fresh sanctions and further isolating Pyongyang.
According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, thousands of North Korean soldiers are preparing to fight in Ukraine on behalf of Russia, and some North Korean officers have already been stationed there.
For a considerable amount of time, Zelenskyy has stated that Pyongyang was also sending personnel to Russia, which is a major increase in foreign support for Moscow’s offensive. Western nations have long accused North Korea of providing weaponry to Russia.
Our intelligence reports that certain North Korean army officers are already on temporarily occupied Ukrainian land, which is being used by Russia. Thus, they enlisted in the Russian army,” Zelenskyy stated on Thursday at a press conference in Brussels.
He claimed that he was unable to provide an accurate count of those already on the ground.
“We know about 10,000 soldiers of North Korea that they are preparing to send fight against us,” he stated, calling it the “first step to the World War” .
Land forces and “other technical personnel” are among the North Korean soldiers being readied for combat in Ukraine, according to Zelenskyy.
Western allies of Ukraine claim to be investigating the matter, but they have not verified Kiev’s claim that Pyongyang is deploying troops.
According to Sean Savett, a spokesman for the White House National Security Council, any confirmation of North Korean military engagement in Ukraine would result in a major strengthening of the defense alliance between Moscow and Pyongyang.
According to Zelenskyy, Russia must make up the shortfall in mobilization and pay for its own manpower losses.
While Ukraine’s own military casualties are a closely guarded secret and are likewise considerable but lesser, the West and Ukraine claim that hundreds of thousands of Russians have died or been injured in fighting in Ukraine.
Over the past few months, Moscow’s forces have marched into the eastern part of Ukraine.
