Kashmir UAJK to provide Free Hostel Accommodation for students under disabled quota

MUZAFFARABAD, (Parliament Times) : The University of Azad Jammu & Kashmir (UAJK) has announced that students admitted under the disabled quota will now be provided free hostel accommodation, a move aimed at promoting inclusivity and equal access to education. The initiative has been approved by Vice Chancellor Prof. Nasir Jamal Khattak and will be formally ratified by the Academic Council and Syndicate.

According to UAJK officials, the measure is part of the University’s ongoing efforts to create a supportive and enabling academic environment for differently-abled students. Priority this year will be given to students admitted under the disabled quota, ensuring they can fully benefit from the University’s educational and residential facilities.

“The welfare and academic progress of every student, regardless of background or ability, remain our foremost priority,” said a UAJK spokesperson. “Providing accessible and supportive facilities is central to our mission of inclusive education.”

The decision has been widely welcomed by students, parents, and members of civil society. Students described it as a progressive and positive step, while parents praised the University for addressing the specific needs of differently-abled students. Educational observers noted that the move not only promotes equality but also strengthens the University’s commitment to social responsibility and human compassion.

UAJK has reiterated its dedication to fostering an inclusive learning environment, ensuring equal opportunities, and supporting the overall growth and development of all its students.
