130 terrorists dead as a major Al Shabab onslaught was repulsed: Somalia

According to authorities, terrorists attacked multiple Somali military installations in the Middle Shabelle region at morning.

More than 130 terrorists were killed when the Somali National Army (SNA), supported by the local population, stopped a significant Al Shabab onslaught, according to Somali officials.

El Ali Ahmed, Ali Fooldheere, Alkowsar, and Daarunimca villages were among the Somali military outposts in the Middle Shabelle region that the gang attacked at daybreak.

The Somali Information Ministry announced in a statement on Thursday that “more than 130 Khawarijs were killed in the operation by the heroes of the National Army and locals.”

The Somali government refers to the terrorist organization Al Shabab as “khawarij.”

After the terrorist incident, locals told Anadolu over the phone that they heard intense shooting and explosions for hours.

According to the ministry, the terrorists who escaped to the wooded region also had a lot of weaponry confiscated by the army.

For almost a month, security forces have been fighting the terrorist organization and have freed a sizable portion of the country from its hold.

For years, insecurity has been a problem in Somalia, with the primary threats coming from the terrorist organizations Daesh and al Shabab.

The African Union Transition force in Somalia (ATMIS), a multifaceted force authorized by the African Union and directed by the UN Security Council, has been engaged in combat with Al Shabab since 2007.

Since Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud proclaimed a “all-out war” on the terrorist organization, attacks have increased.
