Weather Today (February 17): Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal, Uttarakhand in for Snow/Rain
3-days rainfall accumulation forecast from Monday to Thursday morning

Here’s the weather forecast for the next two days:

Monday (February 17)

  • Isolated to scattered snow/rain is likely over Ladakh, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Arunachal Pradesh.
  • Isolated rainfall is possible over West Rajasthan, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Assam, Nagaland, and Manipur.
  • Air qualities are likely to be very poor in Central and Eastern India, poor in Northern, Western, Northeastern, and Southern India.
  • Dense fog is possible in some pockets of Eastern and Southern India during night/morning hours.

Tuesday (February 18)

  • Isolated to scattered snow/rain is forecast over Ladakh, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Arunachal Pradesh.
  • Isolated rains are expected over Rajasthan, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Assam, Nagaland, and Manipur.
  • Air qualities are likely to be very poor in Central and Eastern India, poor in Northern, Western, Northeastern, and Southern India.

5-day nationwide outlook

The Eastern Himalayas are expected to experience persistent snowfall over the next few days due to a cyclonic circulation. The system will also bring about the following precipitation activity:

  • Scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall/snowfall activity likely over Arunachal Pradesh during until February 22, with heavy rainfall activity likely over Arunachal Pradesh on February 19.
  • Isolated to scattered light rains over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the next 7 days.
  • Thunderstorm and lightning activity over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya till February 20, and over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura till February 19.

Meanwhile, snowfall in the Western Himalayas is likely to ease on Monday, but will resume from Tuesday due to a new Western Disturbance. The heaviest snowfall is forecast for Wednesday through Thursday, with Punjab Plains also likely to receive isolated rainfall.

As for mercury levels, maximum temperatures will remain above normal across the northwestern parts of the country, while staying normal or below normal across the northeastern regions until Monday. Northern Karnataka and western Andhra Pradesh are likely to experience maximum temperatures of 35℃ or higher in the coming days. Overnight minimum temperatures will be above normal across much of the country, particularly in Rajasthan and adjoining regions, where temperatures will be 4℃ to 8℃ above normal for the first half of the week.
