The raid targets Lee Kwang-woo, head of the bodyguard division, and acting PSS chief Kim Seong-hoon, who are alleged to have abused their positions of authority and obstructed Yoon’s incarceration due to his unsuccessful attempt to impose martial law.

Due to claims that the Presidential Security Service (PSS) tried to prevent investigators from carrying out a warrant to detain impeached President Yoon Suk-yeol last month, South Korean police conducted another raid on the agency.

According to Yonhap News on Monday, officers were sent to the PSS office located within the Seoul presidential compound and were awaiting authorization to carry out the search and seizure.

The raid targets Lee Kwang-woo, head of the PSS bodyguard division, and acting PSS chief Kim Seong-hoon, who are accused of misusing their authority and hindering official tasks during a previous effort to capture Yoon over his unsuccessful attempt to impose martial law on December 3.

Since Yoon was removed from office in December, this is the fourth raid on the presidential compound.

Yoon is the first sitting president to be arrested and is being investigated criminally for organizing an uprising and abusing his position of authority. Additionally, he faces a travel ban.

His case is currently before the Constitutional Court, which has up to six months to make a decision. He has been suspended from office since parliament decided to impeach him on December 14.

In a growing investigation into the disastrous martial law order, which he backed, Yoon was first taken into custody on January 15 and then formally jailed on January 19. On January 26th, he was charged.
