Zelesnskyy claims Putin is not scared of Europe and wants Trump on his side.

Unlike previous President Joe Biden, who shunned direct discussions with the Russian leader, Trump has indicated that he is open to speak with Putin about ending the war.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told Fox News that he encouraged US President Donald Trump to support Ukraine, saying that Russia’s Vladimir Putin was not scared of Europe and that Ukraine needed more security assurances.

“We want him (Trump) to be on the side of justice, on the side of Ukraine,” Zelenskyy stated during the Tuesday night interview’s broadcast. “Putin is not afraid of Europe.”

There was no immediate response from the White House.

Zelenskyy noted that although Ukraine would prefer a diplomatic solution, it cannot acknowledge Russia’s “occupation.”

Although his exact strategy is yet unknown, Trump, who took office on January 20, has pledged to put an end to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine as quickly as possible.

A settlement might take months, according to aides.

Unlike previous President Joe Biden, who shunned direct discussions with the Russian leader, Trump has indicated that he is open to speak with Putin about ending the war.

The war started in February 2022, and Trump’s election victory in November had bolstered hopes for a diplomatic solution, but it also caused Kiev to worry about the conditions of a peace agreement.

Under Biden, the United States pledged more than $175 billion in help for Ukraine following the Russian-Ukrainian War, including more than $60 billion in security support.

Under Trump, it’s unclear if the help will continue at that rate.
