After waiting for hours for their release, families and relatives of Palestinian inmates who have been liberated embrace them.

The return of inmates released from Israeli Ofer jail in the first exchange in the Gaza ceasefire agreement has been met with tears of joy by large crowds of Palestinians in the occupied West Bank town of Beitunia.

As they clapped and yelled in joy, Palestinians climbed on top of the buses carrying the captives.

After waiting for hours in the town, the families and relatives were spotted embracing their loved ones.

Here are a few of the pictures.

“To us, every inmate being released today is like family. Even if they are not our biological family, they are still a part of us, according to Amanda Abu Sharkh.

“The wait was really difficult. But thank God, we knew we would be freed at any time,” recalls Bushra al Tawil, a detainee who has been freed.
About 1,900 Palestinians are expected to be released over the course of the next 42 days in return for 33 Israeli prisoners that Hamas has detained in Gaza.
As they welcome their loved ones who have been freed, Palestinians celebrate.
69 women, eight male juveniles, and 12 males who had been punished for comparatively minor offenses were among the 90 Palestinian captives that were freed.
