According to the Kosovo Security Force, training was conducted in cooperation with the Turkish military to enhance crisis management, civil defense, and emergency response preparedness.

To enhance their operational capabilities, Turkish soldiers in NATO’s Kosovo Force (KFOR) have trained the security forces in the Balkan country in sniper shooting.

The training was carried out in cooperation with the Turkish Armed Forces to enhance their preparedness for crisis management operations, civil defense, and emergency response, according to a statement released by the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) on Saturday.

The KSF was founded in 2009 and started its ten-year-long transition into the armed forces in 2018.

Many of the weapons in the KSF’s arsenal are Turkish-made, as Turkish troops have been supporting KFOR missions and helping the KSF develop since 1999.

The government of Kosovo and the Turkish defense firm MKE inked a deal in December 2024 to build a plant that would produce ammunition in a variety of calibers and is anticipated to start operations shortly.
