With the help of civil society organizations and in conjunction with AFAD, Turkey has dispatched 13 aircraft and seven ships to deliver humanitarian aid supplies to the Palestinian people.

Turkey’s disaster relief organization, AFAD, released a statement on Thursday announcing the departure of its eighth humanitarian assistance ship to the war-torn Gaza.

At 1:00 p.m. local time (GMT1000), the ship that AFAD and the Directorate General of Foundations prepared will leave the port of Mersin.

2,960 tons of supplies, including 125,000 food boxes and other items, are still being loaded.

With the help of civil society organizations and in conjunction with AFAD, Turkey has dispatched 13 aircraft and seven ships to deliver humanitarian aid supplies to the Palestinian people.

Humanitarian supplies has reached 39,607 tons thanks to the combined efforts of ship voyages, air bridge operations, local procurement, and collaboration with the UN Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA).

Another project was started in cooperation with the Egyptian Red Crescent to provide bottled water to Gaza’s civilian population in order to address their water demands. Five trucks have transported 1,126 tons of water per week to the area up to this point.
