Burhan of Sudan promises to track out paramilitary RSF everywhere

Abdel Fattah al Burhan, the head of Sudan’s ruling Sovereign Council, has pledged to keep pursuing the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) throughout the nation.

Since last April, the army, under Burhan’s leadership, and the RSF have been engaged in ceaseless battle in the North African nation.

According to UN estimates, since then, at least 13,900 people have died and over 8 million have been displaced.

Millions of people are in need of relief due to the hunger crisis brought on by the civil war.

The army declared on Tuesday that it had taken over the national radio and television offices, located in Omdurman, to the west of Khartoum, the capital.

Fighting continues despite appeals for a truce.

Despite mounting international appeals for a truce during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, conflicts erupted again this week.

Burhan declared, “We will keep besieging the rebel enemy everywhere in this nation.”

“The armed forces and regular military agencies will pursue you everywhere until complete victory is achieved,” is the message we are sending to the RSF.

Many cease-fire agreements mediated by the United States and Saudi Arabia have not succeeded in putting an end to the hostilities.
