India laments the OIC’s “meddling” in the Kashmir dispute

KARACHI: The Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) head’s visit to Azad Kashmir has been denounced by India as an “interference” in its internal affairs.

“J&K is an integral and inalienable part of India, and the OIC has no locus standi in matters related to it. Indian Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi issued a statement on Tuesday stating that “any attempt by OIC and its Secretary-General to interfere and meddle in India’s internal affairs is completely unacceptable.”

The assertion said the OIC took “an obtrusively shared, hardliner and verifiably mistaken approach” to the issue.

India accuses China of ‘encroachment’

Separately, China was accused on Tuesday by India’s Defense Minister Rajnath Singh of trying to “unilaterally change the status quo” on their disputed Himalayan border, where clashes last week injured troops on both sides, according to AFP.

“On 09 December 2022, PLA troops endeavored to singularly change the norm by infringing on the Line of Real Control, in the Yangtse area of Tawang area,” Singh said.

The go head to head prompted “wounds to officers on the two sides”, Mr. Singh added.

This face-off resulted in a fight. The brave Indian Army forced the PLA to retreat to their posts and prevented them from invading our territory. A few fighters from the two sides were harmed in the clash.” AFP was informed by a military source that at least six Indian soldiers had been injured.

Long Shaohua, a spokesperson for the PLA Western Theatre Command in Beijing, stated that Indian troops had “illegally crossed the Line [of Actual Control]” and “obstructed” Chinese border patrol officers.

“The situation on the ground was stabilized by our professional, standard, and forceful response measures. According to a post on the official WeChat account of the PLA, Long stated, “China and India have disengaged at this time.”

Wang Wenbin, a spokesperson for the Chinese foreign ministry, stated earlier on Tuesday that the situation was “stable overall.”
