ISLAMABAD: After the government spent Tuesday trying to disband the print of an impasse with the service over the appointment of a new army chief, the military verified late at night that it had dispatched the summary to the defence ministry.

Although multiple ministers spent the day denying the print that the summary had been entered by the PM Office — Defence Minister Khawaja Asif indeed twittered as much around 11 pm after multiple television appearances — the brief epistle from Inter-Services Public Relations simply stated “GHQ has encouraged the summary for Selection of CJCSC and COAS, containing names of 6 elderly most Lt Gens, to MoD.”

Although the advertisement didn’t mention which six names have been encouraged, it’s believed that the six men present in the handling to be the coming chief of army staff are(in order of senility) Lt Gen Asim Munir(presently Quarter Master General), Lt Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza(Commander 10 Corps), Lt Gen Azhar Abbas(Chief of General Staff), Lt Gen Nauman Mehmood(NDU President), Lt Gen Faiz Hamid(Commander Bahawalpur Corps), and Lt Gen Mohammad Amir(Commander Gujranwala Corps).

before, sharing in a television talk show, Mr. Asif said there were no differences between the army and government, and the enterprises being expressed by colorful diggings in that regard were unsupported.

A day before, several PML-N leaders, including former high minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, had indicated that the army was impeding the process.

But the defence minister said he’d conveyed to Mr. Abbasi that his enterprises would be palliated. An elderly PML- N leader told Dawn on Tuesday that the detention in the submission of the summary could undermine the government and leave the process open to enterprise and legal challenges.

PM Shehbaz Sharif is, also, anticipated to hold a discussion with Gen Bajwa on Thursday on the selection of his successor. It’s a convention that the high minister holds this discussion with the gregarious chief, still, it’s described as an “informal discussion.”

On Monday, the PM asked the defence ministry for a summary of the appointment of the coming army chief along with the service dossiers of the campaigners. Defence Ministry latterly encouraged the high minister’s letter to General Headquarters. Besides appointing a new army chief, the government would also appoint a new president common chiefs of staff.

Now, the government is awaiting the summary to reach the high minister’s office along with the service dossiers on Wednesday. A special meeting of the city press has been convened for Thursday to meditate on the movables.

The government had before planned to complete the process by Friday.

The high minister would after making the choice advise President Arif Alvi to appoint the general as the coming army chief. It remains to be seen if the chairman would agree with the advice or shoot it back for retrospection.

On Wednesday, Gen Bajwa would speak at a Defence Day form, which is likely to be his last public speech before the withdrawal.

In his speech, he’s anticipated touching upon the developments during his extended six-time term.

Meanwhile, as part of his farewell visits, Gen Bajwa visited the Quetta garrison on Tuesday. According to ISPR, he laid a flowery wreath at the killers’ monument and interacted with officers and colors. He appreciated the sweats and benefactions of the fraternity and its conformations towards peace and stability in Balochistan and their backing to the parochial government during recent cataracts.
