PM Shehbaz assures Middle East Green Initiative of Pakistan’s full support

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to Saudi Arabia’s Middle East Green Initiative(MGI), saying the country was resolved to support all programs aimed at securing the earth against climate change.

He made these reflections while addressing the MGI peak in Egypt’s Sharm El-Sheikh on Tuesday.

“This is just the morning. Pakistan is keen to give and cooperate with all MGI member countries(as well as) sharing experience and specialized moxie related to restoration of timbers and dry land areas, mangroves, operation of defended areas and establishment of timber monitoring systems,” PM Shehbaz said.

The premier said the objects of the MGI were aligned with Pakistan’s public timber policy and the Green Pakistan Programme.

“We’re concentrated on guarding, enhancing, and managing our wildlife and ecosystem by 2030,” he added.

He confided the Saudi government for the action, saying that Pakistan had formerly changed full cooperation through the exchange of knowledge and the provision of experts, calling the action a “step in the right direction”.

The high minister emphasised that Pakistan was completely committed to the action’s broader objectives and looked forward to working in collaboration with member countries.

In his speech, the premier also lauded Crown Prince Salman for his timely action and leadership.

“Nature-grounded results are also the heart of my country’s ambitious climate action docket.”

Taking to Twitter, the premier added that the MGI was a “pioneering ecosystem restoration action”. He added that Pakistan was keen to work with Saudi Arabia to address the impact of climate change.

PM meets Saudi crown Napoleon
Before, PM Shehbaz met the Saudi crown Napoleon and expressed confidence that the latter’s forthcoming visit to Pakistan would promote bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the COP27 climate conference being held in Egypt’s Sharm El-Sheikh. The two leaders reviewed bilateral relations with an eye on further enhancing ongoing cooperation in colorful fields.

“Looking forward to the forthcoming visit of the Crown Prince to Pakistan, the high minister said that he was confident that this visit would promote bilateral cooperation in all areas of collective interest,” the Prime Minister Office( PMO) said in a statement following the meeting.

Both sides expressed the determination to further strengthen the multinational cooperation between the two fraternal countries, the statement added.

During the meeting, the two leaders also bandied about indigenous and global issues of collective interest.
PM Shehbaz reiterated that Pakistan attached great significance to its ties with Saudi Arabia, which were deeply embedded in common faith, culture, values, and an eternal tradition of collective support.

The high minister also appreciated the hospitality and cooperation of Saudi Arabia for the two million Pakistanis working in the area.

Pertaining to their recent meeting in Riyadh, the high minister and the crown Napoleon expressed satisfaction at growing high-position connections.

PM Shehbaz particularly emphasised the significance of adding trade, investment, development, and people-to-people ties between the two countries.

Appreciating Saudi Arabia’s backing to Pakistan’s flood tide-affected people, the high minister said Pakistan was one of the countries most affected by the goods of climate change.

He expressed a stopgap that COP27 would yield concrete results, especially in developing countries with regard to the backing of waste and damage caused by environmental causes.

PM Shehbaz appreciated Napoleon’s “Middle East Green Initiative” and assured the Saudi leadership of Pakistan’s full support.

The premier visited the area last month and held meetings with the Saudi leadership. Following his visit, PM Shehbaz stated the crown Napoleon would soon be visiting Pakistan during which he’d advertise a $10 billion investment for est­a­blishing an oil painting refinery in the country.
