Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that the world can not go to go back into another “period of Cold War or bloc politics”.
He made the reflections in an interview with Newsweek’s elderly foreign policy pen Tom O’Connor published on Monday.
In it, he touched on Pakistan’s political geography and Islamabad’s relations with friendly countries, including China and the United States.
US- China disunion
Talking about heightened disunion between the US and China, the premier said “While the Pakistan- China relationship is veritably special, Pakistan and the US have also maintained a long- standing major bilateral relationship which covers all issues of collective interest.”
PM Shehbaz said that formative engagement with all countries could promote peace and security as well as development and connectivity in the region.
“We look forward to remaining engaged with the transnational community for peace and stability in the region and beyond,” he said, adding that conflict anywhere in the world had global consequences, especially for developing countries.
“The world can ill- go( a) descent into another period of Cold War or bloc politics. I believe polarisation would have serious consequences for the global frugality tormented by the impacts of the Covid- 19 epidemic and the Ukraine extremity. Developing countries, like Pakistan, are formerly suffering from external shocks to their socioeconomic well- being, and don’t ask aggravation of these challenges convinced by( a) major power contest,” the high minister said.
He went on to say that “ cooperation, not battle, should be the main motorist of transnational relations ”.
Asked whether Pakistan could play a part inde-escalating pressures between the two countries, the premier said Pakistan’s foreign policy was one of “ benevolence and goodwill towards all the nations of the world ”.
Still, Pakistan would be happy to play a positive part to ground their differences, as we had done in the history, “ If China and the US so desire. ”

Afghanistan
Talking about Afghanistan, PM Shehbaz said that the global community original enterprises, including avoiding a prolonged conflict, icing safe evacuations, regulating the inflow of settlers, and icing philanthropic backing, were handled in a “fairly satisfactory manner”.
He prompted the transnational community to remain engaged with the Afghan government, to help it in social and profitable areas and to dissolve the country’s fiscal means.
“We’ll continue to impress upon the interim Afghan government the significance of taking provable conduct on its commitments including those relating to inclusivity, respect for mortal rights of all Afghans, including girls ’ education, and effectivecounter-terrorism action,” he said.
Terrorism in Pakistan
During the interview, the high minister was also asked about militant exertion in Pakistan, including those targeting Chinese citizens.
In response, PM Shehbaz said it was no secret that Pakistan was “ one of the biggest victims of state- patronized terrorism that’s planned, supported and financed by hostile intelligence agencies ”.

Plan for bringing nation together
Talking about his plan for bringing the nation together, PM Shehbaz asserted that the government was changed through a “indigenous process”. He added that the political parties part of the coalition government represented 70 per cent of the electorate, making the current government“ truly public in nature ”.
“The coalition government is working on an agreed- upon public docket of profitable reform and stabilisation. It’s the topmost precedence at the moment. We’re also fastening on making governance effective and service- acquainted, besides perfecting Pakistan’s relations with friendly countries on the base of our collective interests.”
He also stated that for republic to serve effectively, political parties that come into power would have to ameliorate their delivery.
“A political system can only be strengthened and strike deep roots when it’s possessed by the people at large, which in turn is possible through effective public service delivery. Performance in office alone can give life to the public office holders.”
The premier called for all parties to agree to the “ minimal rules of the game in which the weal of the people remains consummate”.
“Methodical problems can be fixed through engagement and consultations among all political stakeholders. This course may take time, but is the only way forward for the system to come strong, flexible and effective. ”
