SEOUL: South Korea and the United States fired eight ballistic dumdums on Monday in response to North Korean munitions tests the former day, Seoul’s service said.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff said the abettors launched the ground-to-ground Army Tactical Missile System( ATACMS) at targets in the East Sea, also known as the ocean of Japan, in the early morning.
The 10- nanosecond blitz comes a day after North Korea launched eight short-range ballistic dumdums following a South Korea- US common military exercise involving a US aircraft carrier.
“ Our military explosively condemns the North’s series of ballistic bullet provocations and brutally urges it to incontinently stop acts that raise military pressures on the promontory, ” the Joint Chiefs of Staff added.
The US Indo- Pacific Command said one US army bullet and seven South Korean dumdums were fired from the northeast of South Korea during Monday’s live-fire exercise, which was aimed at demonstrating their capability to “ respond snappily to extremity events ”.
Monday’s launches are the alternate similar common show of force by the abettors under South Korea’s hawkish new President Yoon Suk- yeol, who has pledged a tougher station against Pyongyang.
“ Our government will respond decisively and brutally to any provocations from North Korea, ” Yoon said on Monday during a speech on Memorial Day.
Last month, Seoul and Washington carried out combined launches after Pyongyang fired three ballistic dumdums — including a suspected multinational ballistic bullet — in their first similar common move since 2017.
Pyongyang has doubled down on upgrading its munitions program, despite facing crippling profitable warrants, with officers and judges advising that the government is preparing to carry out a fresh nuclear test.
North Korea has carried out a blitz of warrants- busting munitions tests this time, including firing a multinational ballistic bullet at full range.
structure work advancing at N- point
North Korean structure work expanding crucial installations at its main nuclear point at Yongbyon is advancing, International Atomic Energy Agency principal Rafael Grossi told a daily meeting of his agency’s 35- nation Board of Governors on Monday. “ A roof has been installed on the addition to the reported Centrifuge Enrichment Facility, so the addition is now externally complete.
Near the light water reactor( LWR), we’ve observed that the new structure that had been under construction since April 2021 has been completed, and construction has started on two conterminous structures, ” he said in a statement to the Board.
