Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Thursday stressed that new philanthropic situations arising in another corridor of the world shouldn’t move the focus down from the dire requirements of millions of Afghans.
He was addressing a high-position clerical meeting on supporting the philanthropic response in Afghanistan which was held in a virtual format. The meeting was convened by the UN Secretary-General, joined by member state co-hosts including Qatar, the United Kingdom, and Germany.
In his videotape address, the foreign minister called upon the transnational community to support the Afghan people in their trip towards sustainable peace and development.
He underlined the significance of durable results including the provision of livelihood openings and icing access to introductory musts similar to food, health, and education for the Afghan population.
FM Qureshi recalled that Pakistan had been at the van of philanthropic sweats for Afghanistan including easing evacuations and relocations and establishing a philanthropic corridor for the delivery of relief goods through air and land routes.
He noted that Pakistan had airlifted philanthropic backing to Afghanistan and dispatched wheat flour and medical inventories via land as part of a$ 30 million philanthropic backing package for Afghanistan.

“Over the times, Pakistan had allocated over$ 1 billion for a range of development systems in Afghanistan. Pakistan also continued to host around 4 million Afghan deportees,” he added.
The foreign minister also acquainted the meeting of Pakistan’s sweats through the platform of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for the operationalization Afghanistan Humanitarian Trust Fund’; the decision to establish the Afghanistan Food Security Programme’; and the appointment of a Special Envoy of the OIC Secretary-General for Afghanistan.
The foreign minister reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to continue the provision of philanthropic relief to the Afghan people, under the UN and OIC marquee, as well as through bilateral channels, in addition to easing the UN in its philanthropic relief sweats by furnishing logistical and other support through Pakistan.

Emphasizing that philanthropic backing should be unconditional and apolitical, in line with transnational principles, Qureshi called for combined transnational sweats to help Afghanistan make a sustainable frugality and restrict the global force chains and banking system.
The main idea of the meeting was to secure gauged-up coffers for addressing the unknown position of philanthropic requirements in Afghanistan.
At the launch of 2022, the United Nations had launched an appeal for over$4.4 billion in that regard.
